📚 Step-by-Step Pathway in India (AAI)
Step 1 – Educational Eligibility
Bachelor's Degree (Science/Engineering)
A 3-year B.Sc. degree with Physics and Mathematics, or a 4-year B.E./B.Tech degree in any discipline (provided Physics and Maths were subjects in any semester).
Step 2 – Selection Process
AAI Junior Executive (ATC) Exam
Pass the national-level competitive exam conducted by the Airports Authority of India (AAI). This includes an online test, voice test, and medical examination for physical fitness.
Step 3 – Institutional Training
Civil Aviation Training College (CATC)
Undergo approximately 6–9 months of intensive training at CATC Allahabad or other regional centers. This covers meteorology, navigation, air law, and radar simulation.
Step 4 – Rating & Certification
On-the-Job Training (OJT)
Work under a rated controller at an operational airport. You must pass practical exams to earn "Ratings" for specific sectors like Aerodrome Control, Approach Control, or Area Control.
Step 5 – Seniority & Specialization
Senior Manager (ATC) / GM
Progress through ranks from Junior Executive to Assistant General Manager and beyond. Transition into specialized roles like Airspace Design or Search and Rescue coordination.
